I started working for a tax accountant in Tucker, GA out of high school in 2002. That's 20 years ago now! I would work tax season then go to college during the off seasons. I obtained my Associate's degree in Accounting from Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, GA by doing this.
I then went on to Valdosta State University for my Bachelor's degree in Accounting. See my Dad's family was from South GA and it was family tradition to go to VSU! My Dad ended up retiring as The Accountant for the State of GA DFCS. My Mom was also an Accountant from GA State University and retired from the State of GA DHR. Even my Dad's Father was an Accountant. It's in my genes!
After I graduated, I worked for a tax accounting firm in Dunwoody and became the manager. After that, I tried out the accounting side working for a couple different industries. One position was a Job Cost Accountant for a Design Build Firm also in Dunwoody, GA. Some of the other industries include a successful Recycling yard in Lithonia, GA and a famous Nightclub in Atlanta, GA.
Fast forward to 2016, I moved to "The Mountain House," which is in Dillard, GA on my Great Grandfather’s property. I accepted a yearlong contract position as a Job Cost Accountant on a large job site in Macon County, NC. After that I took a few years off work, got married, had two little boys. Then I went back into tax season in 2021 in Franklin, NC.
